About Mahatma Yoga Ashram - India

Established in 2008 as Mahatma Yoga Foundation, Mahatma Yoga Ashram is well-equipped yoga school offering regular yoga retreat, Ayurveda treatment, reiki healing classes, naturopathy, and other short term services throughout the year to the worldwide population. Registered with Yoga Alliance USA to offer 200 hour yoga teacher training to beginners and intermediate level yoga practitioners, this Ashram also conducts regular 200 hour yoga instructor certification course.

Mahatma Yoga Foundation is an organization bridging the gap of yogic knowledge between the ancient and modern world. The foundation has two buildings where the participants are accommodated in a single room with private bath. We have up to 25 people in each session who live yogic lifestyle learning, practicing, sharing and exploring together.

All the participants are provided with three vegetarian meals per day. These meals are prepared in the Ayurvedic recipe to ensure the good health of the participants. If you stay for at least a week, you will get one complimentary Ayurveda massage. If you stay for two weeks or Sunday falls in between your stay, you can participate in extra activities.

By Air: The nearest international airport is Indira Gandhi International airport New Delhi approx. Six hours ride from Rishikesh. From Delhi, you can get a connecting flight to Jolly Grant airport in Dehradun, approx. 30 minutes ride from the Ashram. You can book a taxi through us from Delhi airport (USD 70) or Dehradun airport (USD 15).

By Train: Book train ticket in advance to ride to Haridwar train station, approx. 45 minutes ride from Rishikesh. From Haridwar train station, you can get a tuk-tuk to drop you at Laxman Jhula in Rishikesh. Mahatma Yoga Ashram is approx. 100 meters walk through the Ganges from Laxman Jhula (suspension bridge). Haridwar is connected with many trains from and to Delhi, Varanasi, Rajasthan, Amritsar, etc. Delhi to Haridwar takes five to eight hours on the train. You can book a taxi through us from Haridwar train station to the ashram (USD 20).

By Bus: You can get a bus at Kashmiri Gate National Bus station in New Delhi to Rishikesh leaving every hour. It will be at approx. seven to eight hours ride. From Rishikesh bus station, you can get a tuk-tuk to drop you at Laxman Jhula. Mahatma Yoga Ashram is approx. 100 meters walk through the Ganges from Laxman Jhula (suspension bridge).

Mahatma Yoga Ashram in India

Born in the North Indian Himalaya in an spiritual family environment and initiated to the path of yoga and meditation in early childhood, Yogendra Singh Negi had a greater impact of nature and natural vibrations. Educated and guided by yogis and scholars from his age of 12, Mr. Negi gained Masters in Commerce, diploma in Software Engineering and diploma in Yogic Science and Naturopathy before doing doctorate in Naturopathy. He is a scholar of Hatha, Astanga and Kriya yoga and teaches both philosophical and theoretical aspects of these fields of yogic science. Besides being yoga and meditation teacher, he is the Reiki master of Mahatma Yoga Ashram. Students know him as Yogi Ji and highly appreciate his inspiring humours.

Passionate, determined and dedicated, the perfect definition for Harshpal.Harshpal conducts Hatha yog asana and has deepen his practice in Pranayama and meditation.Education from revered yoga institutes in India, Harshpal has done intensive yoga course from Jairam Sanskrit Vishvavidhyalaya Institute. He also studied Yoga Therapy at UIPS Yoga Academy and completed one year advanced yoga teacher training program from Yoga Sanskrit Rishikesh. He furthermore has completed Hatha Vinyasa Flow course at Swami Vivekananda Yoga and Meditation School.Harspal is adept and energetic yoga teacher with strong determination that inspires his students. One of Harshpal's goals as a yoga teacher at Mahatma Yoga is to encourage and inspire the students to develop their personal practice for their harmonious life.

After graduating from H.N.B. Garhwal University (B.A) Vikendra did Masters in Yoga in the same University. Vikendra is well acquainted in traditional Hatha yoga as well as Hatha flow and Ashtanga yoga. He furthermore has great knowledge and teaching experience in Iyengar yoga with good emphasis on precision and alignment in the performance of yoga asanas. Vikendra is well known as one of the most patient and humble teacher among his students. Vikendra devotes time for each student and guides them on a personal level, which is the unique asset of his teaching thus makes his teaching with fun and easy. He is expertise of breathing technique during the yoga asana session. Vikendra carries one of Mahatma Yoga's core values - to give you the strongest possible foundation in your asana practice in the form of correct alignment, strength and flexibility.

Matt an ERYT-500 yoga instructor and certified personal trainer. He has travelled the United States and India over the past ten years, learning from master instructors and teaching to students. His studies have taken him on multiple trips across India to learn about the art of balanced living. His teachings include various components of yoga, including: breathing, philosophy, anatomy, body awareness, strength training, injury prevention, meditation and focus. As a wellness professional he guides clients to emphasize balance while working towards their goals. As a yoga teacher he works to create an experience for students that is light and empowering. He teaches the process of progressing into advanced postures by demonstrating accessible steps in a style that adapts to students on an individual basis. Matt encourages students to see beyond comparisons with others and see the yoga practice as a journey into a deeper understanding of the self.
